Don’t remove rust, convert rust. Corroseal rust converter is an elite, industrial strength product for all your marine, household, automotive, and industrial rust problems. Extend the life of your metal equipment by protecting it from rust and corrosion. Rust occurs naturally when the iron in steel oxidizes and returns to its original state, iron oxide. Through an innovative chemical conversion process, Corroseal rust converter converts rust into a stable substance, magnetite. It also primes the surface with a high quality latex metal primer at the same time. Corroseal truly provides one step corrosion control. Corroseal is the best way to deal with rust because it is less expensive, less time consuming, and is much more environmentally friendly than sandblasting. Corroseal eliminates the need to sandblast rust by chemically converting rust from iron oxide to magnetite, a black and inert substance. Corroseal rust converter is your best rust treatment and corrosion control option because it meets all your metal surface preparation needs by converting the rust and priming the metal surface at the same time.

Have used since 2010. How did I discover it? It was being used by MARAD on the ships out in the Suisun Reserve Fleet. Says several things right there. That is a hostile environment given wind, rain, and salt air. Gee, MARAD must know something so I decided to use it aboard the USS Hornet Museum in spot locations. After paint is scraped off, all loose rust removed via wire wheel where found, surface primed with red oxide oil base primer, and final two coats of haze gray with hardener, I have no issues years later. Prove me wrong in how I use it and I will prove you wrong on the ship. Obviously large areas, a rust inhibitor primer not found at , is used before color coat.

I liked that it’s easy to apply. I was using it on a shipping container where I had removed all the bubbled up paint that had rust beneath it. I noticed after first coat, the black ‘primer’ was running down the sides which seemed odd, as if it was bringing the rust with it or something but I had thoroughly cleaned the area prior to use. Came back a week later and noticed there were bubbles in the paint (over rust) that weren’t there before use. It’s as if it leached under the paint and made more rust reactions. No I’ll have to sand all that off and start again but won’t be using this product.

I use Ospho and Corroseal, two products that do similar things with rust. I prefer Corroseal because it has an oatmeal-milky color and I can tell what has been covered, and it works as a primer. It will stain paint, so if paint is involved, I use Ospho. Both look similar when dried.

I coated my 1977 equipment trailer with Corroseal. It was rusty, not flaky rust, and this product has it looking great and ready for a new coat of paint.

In the early fall of 2021 i purchased a gallon. I spent a few days prepping the frame and underside of my 03 f250. Applied 3 coats. Then 3 top coats of rustoleum. The truck looked amazing. So i got another gallon and we did my sons 01 f250. That also looked great. BUT, now its 7 months later and this stuff is complete junk. Its pitting and peeling off all over the place under both trucks. My truck has less than 5 miles on it since it was applied. My sons truck has about 7000 miles. Both trucks were completely prepped 100% properly. What a total waste of many, many hours and money. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!!! im now getting ready to remove the rest of this junk and use mastercoat. Lesson learned the hard way. There is no magic when it comes to rust. Mastercoat is the only long term rust solution. Its been protecting bridges and train cars for over 30 years. I followed the instructions perfectly. two years later the areas that were primed with corroseal from lowes are bubbled and pitted with rust. I didn’t like how the product dried so I used a different product to prime the rest. The areas where I used rustoleum rusty metal primer are still perfect to this day. Upon further investigation into corroseal, I found that the product has a pretty short expiration date and should only be used in a dry climate to work properly. I wonder if I was sold old product? was not interested in refunding my money when I inquired.

I can’t vouch for the long term effectiveness, but short term looks good. Applied easy. Do use in well ventilated area because some sulfur dioxide is given off as the rust is being converted.

Could be a rumor,, but i heard even NASA uses this stuff on their equipment. Truly an amazing rust converting product. This does not cover the rust. it chemically converts it. I did the undercarriage, suspension components, and roof liner of my classic car with this product.

covers well, converts red rust to black quickly. Does not need to be rinsed off like Ospho or some other converters. Small negative is it stains skin black, stains don’t wash off easily. Wear gloves. I’ll see in a year how the steel holds up with a top coat of enamel
