Unfortunately when I opened the tab on the box of Fridge N Freezer Baking Soda, I discovered that there was no covering over the opening. As this is a very large space, I can’t use it in the fridge or freezer as I am concerned that it will spill and make a huge mess.

I’ve been using the Fridge-n-Freezer soda for years, and have always been happy with the clean-smelling results. I was a little disappointed when some time ago, they changed the “change by” date to only 30 days of use (was it 60 or 90 days before? I don’t remember, but I never had a problem on the older schedule) So now I compromise on ~40 days, and then use the used soda, with white vinegar, to keep the pipes clean in the bathrooms and kitchen. I’d like to know if the “paper” covering in this box is recyclable along with the cardboard? So far, I’ve been tearing out as much as possible of the “paper” filter before recycling the rest of the box, but I’m not sure that’s necessary. Can anyone answer this question?

Man these little boxes are a god send. We recently cleaned out a fridge given to us but my brother used a strong chemical that continued to remain. I bought 2 of these from the store, opened, and then left in the fridge for a week. The smell was drastically reduced! Now we always keep one in rotation
